I have been called “Nig”, “Nigh”, “Nu”, “Ning”, “Ang”, and “Eng”. For the record, this video is how I pronounce it. I understand that it is not an easy name to pronounce if you’ve never seen it before. I tend to give people a few passes even after I’ve explained it if they are respectful. One time, however, I was asked by a very rude cashier at Store 24 in Providence, “What does THAT stand for?! That’s a stupid name.” to which I replied, “It stands for N as in “Ng” and “G” as in “Go F*** yourself.” I’m not proud of that but hey, I was young and stupid.
