I spend a lot of time on this blog talking about collecting National Park Passport Stamps but this post is about a different kind of stamp: a U.S.Postal Service stamp! Actually, it’s the 16 U.S. Postal Service National Parks Forever Stamp Pane created to commemorate the National Park Service’s 100th birthday coming this July.

This week, The U.S. Postal Service released the final preview image from the 16 stamp collection that will launch on June 2, 2016 during the first-day-of-issue ceremony at New York City’s Jacob Javits Center at 11 a.m. as part of World Stamp Show-NY 2016. It is the stamp above depicting two bison at Yellowstone National Park. Here is what the full set of 16 National Parks Forever Stamps look like:

“These stamps celebrate the 100th anniversary of the National Parks and depict the beauty and diversity of these national treasures,” said Postmaster General Megan J. Brennan. “They serve as an inspiration for Americans to visit, learn and to write cherished memories of their trips to these incredible wonders.”

The following National Park Units are represented: Acadia National Park, Arches National Park, Assateague Island National Seashore, Bandelier National Monument, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Everglades National Park, Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, Grand Canyon National Park,Gulf Islands National Seashore,Haleakalā National Park, Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens, Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park,Mount Rainier National Park, San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park, Theodore Roosevelt National Park and Yellowstone National Park.

We have visited Arches National Park, Everglades National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, and San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park with plans to visit Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve and Mt. Rainier National Park this summer!

While I am not much of a stamp collector nor do I, quite frankly, mail too many letters, this is something that I will go out and buy at my United States Post office when I have a chance. I think we will probably frame a pane and hang it near our National Park map and maybe put it in our National Park Passports. How many of the 16 National park units have you visited?

Stamp Out Hunger on May 14th!

My family loves visiting National Parks to view our country’s natural beauty, historic landmarks, and important monuments. We also love giving back to our community. This May 14th I hope you will join my family in donating to your local food bank during the 24th Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive by the National Association of Letter Carriers.

This is the easiest possible food drive of the year. Simply leave non-perishable food items by your mailbox on May 14th and your letter carrier will pick it up and donate it to your local food bank.
