When going to your child’s winter concert here’s a quick tip for you. Silence the shutter sound on your device!

We get it. You have a fancy iPad or the new iPhone. So does half the world by now. We understand! Really we do! Never mind you block the view of every person behind you. That I can forgive. But we don’t need to hear the clicky click shutter sound every time you are taking a picture!

Last night I was at my daughters Winter Choral Concert and right behind me I had an iPad right behind my ear clickety clicking the entire time.

Excuse #1: “But I can’t see what I’m taking a picture of!!!”

That’s an eye problem not a device problem.

Excuse #2: But I don’t want to take too many pictures accidentally!”

Oh sorry. I forgot how frustrating it can be to only have 32 exposures and have to wait 24 hours to get your prints developed. Exactly.

The most common excuse: I can’t tell if I took the picture!

Clearly, the sound isn’t helping you either because you fired off 20 shots in 30 seconds. You aren’t documenting the leap of a leopard for National Geographic. You were taking a picture of your kid and 50 other strange kids in between songs!

The only reasonable excuse for iPad users: I don’t know how to turn the sound off!”

Yes, there is no way in settings to turn off the sound (unless you jailbreak). Fortunately there is a workaround. It can be tricky so pay close attention to my directions:

Step 1: Flip the switch on the side to silence mode(red color)
Step 2: Instantly stop annoying everyone else.

Thank you for your time.

Schools are about education so this should be easy to communicate.
